In a land far away (Angu Doore Oru Desathu) is an Indian- Malayalam film, written and directed by Joshy Mathew. Kala Vijayan a 75 year old Dance Teacher (Daughter of renowned Kathakali Artist (Kathakali is an Indian Classical art form) Padmasree Kalamandalam Krishnan Nair and Mohiniattam mastero Kalamandalam Kalyanikutty Amma (Indian national award winner) is in the lead role.

Supporting characters are done by, State Govt Best Actor award winner (2017) Indrans, and Master Adish Praveen (National Award for Best Child Artist -2016). More than 12 artists from Indian theatre are also doing notable roles, which includes Kuttiyedathi Vilasini (State Govt. Second Best Actress) Nandu, Gokulan, Achudanandan, Benoy Veloor, Varda, Supriya K. Kavitha, Somu Mathew, Perunna Madhu, Harilal, Joy, Sanju Joshy, Mahesh etc... The film was shot in the remote villages, on the border of Kerala and Tamilnadu, The villages are Vandanmedu, Annkkara and Ramakkalmedu. The main shooting took place in a heritage building in Vandammedu, which is of 150 years old and a horse stable, which was used by the Kings of Travancore when they went for hunting in Highranges.


The movie speaks about the reviving, uplifting impact of a veteran teacher, Radha, on a village through her ardent efforts to rescue an ancient tribal school threatened with closure by local authorities and of how she influences the life of the students and villagers thus exalting the community into the benefits of education.


Mr. Baby Mathew Somatheeram is a successful Business man awarded for his development in ayurvedic medicine and treatment in Kerala. As a producer This is his 8th film. He has already won national award (2012) for the Best Environmental film for “Black Forest”, directed by Joshy Mathew. Best Sanskrit film award (2015) for “Priyamanasam”. National Best Documentary Award (2016) for “In return, just a book”, and his film "Pinneyum" directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan has shown in many International festivals. He has also produced a film with Australian Director Paul Cox.


Joshy Mathew's last Movie “Black Forest” (feature film) won the Indian National award for best environment film in 2012 and State award for the best children’s film and also Kerala film critics award for Best environmental film and best children’s film. This film has selected to 11 film festivals internationally including Mosco Film Festival, Vladivostok Film Festival, Russia, Kolkota Film Festival, IFFK, Hydrabad childrens film festival of india, Habitat Film Festival, New Delhi etc.
"Train in the 10th Floor” won FIPRESCI award in 2009. Joshy Mathew has directed a documentary on renowned Australian director Paul Cox and has attended Cannes Film Festival, Mosco Film Festival and also many Film Festivals abroad with his films.
Joshy Mathew was the vice chairman of Kerala State Chalachitra Academy and a board member of the Kerala State Film Development Corporation. He was also in the jury panel of Television Award Committee of State Government and also an executive committee member of Kerela State Drama Academy. He is the Director of “Nav Yug” childrens theatre and movie village in Kottayam, Kerala.
